(AKA, What to Wear and what to bring for Your Engagement Photos)

Let's be honest, engagement photos are just plain fun. There isn't stress like you would have on your wedding day and you just get to be cute with your boo. Along with that excitement is some anticipation, especially about what to wear for your photos and what to bring!

In my wedding guide (something that all of the couples who book me receive for free) is a whole section dedicated to engagement photos and I go into much more detail about everything engagement photo related but here are some of my top tips to looking your best in engagement photos!

Capture Multiple Styles

Firstly, I encourage you to bring more than one outfit! Why? Neither you as a person nor your relationship as a whole is 2 dimensional and one sided. We are complex creatures with many sides and if you only bring one outfit you're limiting the telling of your story where as when you bring multiple outfits it's much easier to show off the many sides of you and your relationship.

I have a pop up tent so you have privacy to change no matter what location and I'm always willing to stop in somewhere if you'd rather change in a bathroom so there are no excuses for not having more than one outfit.

Having multiple outfits allows you and your fiance to really show off what your relationship is all about. Are you both usually cozy? Bring a casual outfit. Are you big sports fans? Show that off! Are you fashion forward? Now is the time to get creative and find fun outfits that not only make you feel confident, but express your unique relationship.

Dress Up

While I encourage you to bring many outfits, one outfit in particular I think every couple needs at their engagement shoot is a dressy outfit. Odds are you both haven't been photographed together at too many formal events and even less likely that you've had those formal photos taken by a professional photographer. The only other time you'll probably get professional photos in fancy clothes will likely be your wedding day so take advantage of this situation and find something classic, timeless, and dressy to capture at least a few nice photos during your session.

Bring Props

I love getting creative and finding the perfect way to show your love for one another and share your story! A great way to do this is by bringing props! This can be literally anything! Bring a sign that says something hilarious, bring giant letters of your first initials, bring some champagne, bring dorky glasses, whatever makes sense to you, bring it! There are tons of examples online of awesome engagement props for your to explore and get ideas for your own session!
